Buttermilk Soda Cookies

3 c Flour,all-purpose,sifted
1 c Buttermilk
1/2 ts Baking soda
2/3 c Shortening
4 tb Butter
3 ts Baking powder
1 ts Salt
How To …
Preheat oven to 450′F. Sift flour, salt, soda and baking powder by mixing bowl. Cut in shortening with 2 knives, a pastry cutter or your hands dusted with flour. Add enough buttermilk to make a soft paste. Knead lightly and turn on a lightly floured board. Roll to 1 / 2 “thick and cut with cookie cutters into rounds. Place towers not touching - for crisper cookies - or closer - for sweet biscuits - on a greased baking sheet. Brush with melted butter, if desired and bake in preheated oven 12-15 minutes or until firm and lightly browned. This bread recipes could serve eighteen people.
